Welcome to our analysis for TFT Patch Notes 12.20!

UPDATED for 12.20

Set 7.5 Uncharted Realms is now entering another patch cycle.

As usual, with the set out for a little bit now, patches are expected to mainly shift the meta a bit while also addressing any problematic comps.

Let’s get right into the changes and see what we can expect.

TFT Patch 12.20 Highlights

SYSTEM CHANGES

Blue Orbs

  • 5 gold drops have been removed from Blue Orbs.

Treasure Dragon

  • We’ve adjusted a few extreme rare cases for the Treasure Dragon to make them slightly less extreme.

Clamped Health Bars

  • This change also impacts Mobile.
  • Unit Health bars now stay on screen when units are fighting near the top edge of the screen.

LARGE CHANGES

TRAITS

Guild is getting nerfed a bit so that comps look to use more Guild members rather than just a few OP ones to build up a carry like Xayah. Shi Oh Yu and Sy’fen are the big hitters of the patch, and the Jade statues are getting nerfed as a result.

  • Cavalier Armor and Magic Resistance: 30/45/60/75/110 ⇒ 35/50/65/85/110
  • Dragonmancer Bonus Ability Power: 20/35/50/70 ⇒ 25/40/50/70
  • Guild
    Attack Speed (Twitch): 13% ⇒ 11%
    Omnivamp (Emblem): 4% ⇒ 3%
    Multiplier: 100/110/120/130/140/150/165/180% ⇒ 100/110/120/130/140/150/160/175%
  • Jade Statue Attack Speed: 10/30/55/88% ⇒ 10/22/55/88%
  • Ragewing
    Attack speed: 50/100/150/250% ⇒ 50/100/150/275%
    Omnivamp: 15/30/45/75% ⇒ 15/30/45/85%

UNITS: TIER 1

  • Senna
    Mana buff: 30/90 ⇒ 15/75
Last Embrace bonus magic damage: 300/450/600 ⇒ 300/450/650
    • This is a pretty nice buff to Senna, and may support more Cannoneer comps, but we don’t expect too much from this change.

UNITS: TIER 2

  • Zac Unstable Current percent max Health damage: 5/6/7% ⇒ 10/12/18%
    • This buff is quite hefty, and should help Zac across all levels.

UNITS: TIER 3

A good amount of changes are coming to Nomsy to nerf the Mage variant, while buffing the Cannoneer and Evoker variant. Rengar is getting a deserved nerf, and Volibear is getting a small and likely unnoticeable buff.

  • Nomsy
    Fireballs! Damage: 210/300/480 ⇒ 190/270/420
Evoker Nomsy, Lulu Whimsy Attack Speed Buff: 30/40/60% ⇒ 40/50/70%
Cannoneer Nomsy, Tristana Attack Speed: 0.7 ⇒ 0.75
Cannoneer Nomsy, Nomsy bonus Attack Damage from being friends with Tristana: 30/45/70 ⇒ 35/50/80
  • Rengar
    Mana nerf: 60/120 ⇒ 70/140
    Unseen Predator AD ratio: 255/265/275% ⇒ 240/245/275%
  • Volibear Mana buff: 0/60 ⇒ 0/40

UNITS: TIER 4

Most of the 4-cost changes are slight, but they are nerfing the most problematic Dragons.

  • Daeja Windblast Damage: 250/350/1600 ⇒ 250/335/1350
  • Pantheon Aegis Assault Damage: 100/150/700 ⇒ 75/110/700
  • Sohm Tideblossom detonation damage: 300/420/1500 ⇒ 285/400/1400
  • Sy’fen max Mana nerf: 90/160 ⇒ 100/170

UNITS: TIER 5

Here are a few slight nerfs to the 5 and 10-cost units.

  • Ao Shin Mana: 0/175 ⇒ 0/190
  • Zoe Mana: 30/100 ⇒ 40/110
  • Terra Health: 1200 ⇒ 1050

Best TFT Comps for Patch 12.20

My name is Alan and I’ve peaked Challenger in multiple TFT sets and I constantly work with top Challenger players like Ace of Spades to analyze the meta.

Patch 12.20 is out, and it’s time for our usual meta shake-up. Some reroll comps are coming into the light, and the power level of Dragons are shifting around a bit.

NOTE: These team comps will be accurate when we publish at the beginning of the patch but are constantly updated by our experts. If you visit in between patch releases, there may be a slight lag time for when the blog is updated to match it so be sure to check our official website’s TFT team comp page for the most up-to-date info.

Jade Whispers: S-tier

TFT Jade Whispers Team Comp 12.20

Team Comp Description:

This comp is all about combining the 2 traits – Jade & Whispers. The green Dragon Shi Oh Yu and the purple Dragon Sy’fen are your core units that’ll need a similar itemization – but once you get it online – you’ll have a really powerful board!

[How to play Jade Whispers]

When to make:

Go for this comp if you have lots of B.F. Sword item components, Recurve Bow, Sparring Glove etc. so that you can slam multiple melee AD items for your carries.

Inner Flame: S-tier

TFT Inner Flame Team Comp 12.20

Team Comp Description:

This comp is a slow roll comp that revolves around Karma as the main carry and builds upon her Dragonmancer origin. Since you’ll give her a sustain and healing item in Bloodthirster, she’ll keep healing herself back up while generating mana from getting attacked by the enemy units.

[How to play Inner Flame]

When to make:

This comp is very simple to play. Go for it if you have a the usual crit item combo in Jeweled Gauntlet and Infinity Edge or simply find lots of Dragonmancers early on.

Age of Dragons: S-tier

TFT Age of Dragons Team Comp 12.17

Team Comp Description:

This is the ultimate Dragon alliance comp that will make you dominate your lobbies! Play it ONLY if you have upgraded 2 star units throughout the entire game that help you win streak easily. Having 3 of the highest cost units in the game requires a strong economy and enough HP so you have to play your strongest board!

[How to play Age of Dragons]

When to make:

Go for this comp ONLY if you can guarantee a strong early and mid game without rolling too much. You can also consider running this board if you get any Dragon Emblems or specifc Dragon trait augments such as Age of Dragons.

Guild Gang GG: S-tier

TFT Guild Gang Team Comp 12.20

Team Comp Description:

This comp is all about Guild! You play all the Guild units that are in the game with Twitch for the early game, Zippy for the mid game and Jayce for the late game! Since you have such a variety of carries – you can use literally all item components the game offers you!

[How to play Guild Gang]

When to make:

Go for this comp if you see any Guild related Augments such as “Loot Master”, an Emblem or something like “Gear Upgrades”. Having lots of bow item components early on for Twitch is also a good sign to play this.

Team Green: S-tier

TFT Team Green Team Comp 12.19

Team Comp Description:

This comp is pretty straightforward – you see green champions – you buy green champions. It uses almost all Jade units and Jayce as well as Olaf to add in more Synergies and damage as well as frontline and utility.

[How to play Team Green]

When to make:

Go for this comp if you find an early copy of Shi Oh Yu so that you can immediately play 7 Jades.

Predator Cat: S-tier

TFT Predator Cat Team Comp 12.19

Team Comp Description:

Rengar is back and Assassins are stronger than ever! Abuse Darkflight with Zekes and tons of attack speed on your carries! The Dragon Tyrant Swain provides enough frontline so that Rengar can slice up the enemy team one by one.

[How to play Predator Cat]

When to make:

Go for this comp if you find lots of B.F. Sword item components to have the perfect itemization on your main carry – Rengar.

Pool Party: S-tier

TFT Pool Party Team Comp 12.18

Team Comp Description:

This comp uses the ultimate trio Seraphine + Graves + Pantheon. The ult of Seraphine grants bonus auto attack damage – meaning when Pantheon ults, he’ll proc it several times immediately. The same goes for Graves as he always shoots 4 bullets at a time. But, Seraphine 3 star will be your ultimate win condition.

[How to play Pool Party]

When to make:

You can almost force this comp every game as long as you’re not contested and can get Seraphine 3 star.

Laser Yone: A-tier

TFT Laser Yone Team Comp 12.20

Team Comp Description:

This comp is all about Yone as a ranged carry. You HAVE to give him that extra range or else this comp will be very difficult to pull off. Seeing the “Scoped Weapons” Augment should be an instant pick to go for this comp.

[How to play Laser Yone]

When to make:

So, go for this comp if you find an early Spatula either during the first carousel, through an Urf’s Grab Bag or simply get a Swiftshot Emblem / Scoped Weapons as Augment.

Aqua Mages: A-tier

TFT Aqua Mages Team Comp 12.18

Team Comp Description:

This comp builds upon the new Lagoon trait with the water Dragon Sohm as main carry and the 4-cost Assassin Nilah as secondary carry. Your Dragon will blow up enemy frontlines while your Assassin – Nilah – cleans up the enemy backline.

[How to play Aqua Mages]

When to make:

Go for this comp if you have a good Lagoon starter as well as find a copy of Sohm or Nilah early on.

Guild Xayah 2.0: A-tier

TFT Guild Xayah 2.0 Team Comp 12.19

Team Comp Description:

Guild Xayah can now be played with full 6 Ragewings! This is by far the strongest version of any Xayah carry comp with the red Dragon Shyvana as secondary carry.

[How to play Guild Xayah 2.0]

When to make:

Go for this comp if you have a lot of good AD items (Bows and Swords), and have a decent 2-stars start that can snowball you quite easily into the late game.

Daeja Vu: A-tier

TFT Daeja Vu Team Comp 12.20

Team Comp Description:

This comp focuses mainly around the Mirage trait. Your main damage carry is the Mirage Dragon Daeja and Nunu is your frontline tank alongside his Cavalier & Guild companions.

[How to play Daeja Vu]

When to make:

Go for this comp if you have lots of Bows and Needlessly Large Rods to get the right itemization on your Mirage carry – Daeja. Finding a Yone or Nunu will also help activating Mirage early into the game.

Dragonscorn: S-tier

TFT Dragonscorn Team Comp 12.19

Team Comp Description:

Scalescorn got reworked! The trait remains now active with Dragons in play and Sy’fen will be the best choice to choose here! With Whispers in the front, you want your main carry Olaf to throw his axes from a safe distance by positioning him right behind them.

[How to play Dragonscorn]

When to make:

You can go for this comp if you have lots of offensive item components such as Bow and B.F. Sword or find an early copy of Olaf to make him get his AD stacks from the get go.

Lux Reroll: A-tier

TFT Lux Reroll Team Comp 12.17

Team Comp Description:

This comp is your typical 3 star reroll Astral-Mage comp with Lux as the source of main damage and the Bruiser duo Sylas and Skarner as main tanks in the front. Since all the units in play are low-cost units, it’s fairly easy to play and a comp you can go for in every game (as long as you’re uncontested).

[How to play Lux Reroll]

When to make:

Go for this comp if you’re uncontested, find a good amount of Lux copies and have a good Astral/Mage starter.

300 Whispers: A-tier

TFT 300 Whispers Team Comp 12.19

Team Comp Description:

This comp uses mainly Whispers – with Sy’fen as Dragon and Pantheon as strong frontline carries. Zyra is your utility and extra backline damage.

The non-whisper units in this comp support both your carries with either more health in Bruisers, more damage in Warriors or more utility with shields and stuns.

[How to play 300 Whispers]

When to make:

If you have strong Attack Damage items like Bloodthirster you can force this most games. Sy’Fen and Pantheon are easy carries to flex into.

Mage Nomsy: A-tier

TFT Mage Nomsy Team Comp 12.19

Team Comp Description:

This Comp builds upon the previous Dragon in training – Nomsy. As a Prodigy Dragon, she can be now 3 different traits each game but this comp variation sets the focus on the MAGE variation of your Dragon.

[How to play Mage Nomsy]

When to make:

Go for this comp if Nomsy has the Mage trait and you can summon Heimerdinger to the board. For the Evoker variation, check out the “Evoker Nomsy” guide on the team comps page!

One-Shot Lee: A-tier

TFT One-Shot Lee Team Comp 12.19

Team Comp Description:

As the name suggests, this comp simply revolves around Lee Sin, as the main carry. He is tanky enough with Dragonmancer to sustain a lot of damage and heal it back up with Hand of Justice or Bloodthirster. The comp is also simple to play as you mainly just throw in a lot of Dragonmancer units together.

[How to play One-Shot Lee]

When to make:

Go for this comp if you have good Lee Sin items (lots of Sparring Gloves) and have a decent start with Dragonmancers.

200 Years: A-tier

TFT 200 Years Team Comp 12.18

Team Comp Description:

This comp revolves around Cannoneers to blow up enemy teams! The Synergy between Zeke’s Herald and Darkflight is simply too good with your Blasters. Graves will be your main carry so always make sure you sandwich him between 2 Darkflights.

[How to play 200 Years]

When to make:

Go for this comp if you find lots of Aphelios copies or get good Cannoneer Augments such as “Ricochet” or “Hot Shot”.

Shift-Shots: A-tier

TFT Shift-Shots Team Comp 12.18

Team Comp Description:

This comp uses all Shapeshifters to get a beefy front online while having Swiftshots in the back that’ll deal all the damage needed! You’ll use a 2-star Varus as your main carry most of the game as he’s pretty reliable to find while Jayce and Shyvana will be your meat-shields!

[How to play Shift-Shots]

When to make:

Go for this comp if you find an early copy of Varus, have lots of AD item components such as B.F. Swords and Recurve Bow’s.

Dragonmancer Nunu: A-tier

TFT Dragonmancer Nunu Team Comp 12.18

Team Comp Description:

This comp is unlike any others! Your main carry in this comp is Nunu! However, you can only consider playing this comp if you’re able to make your Mirage Cavalier carry a Dragonmancer and get him 3 stars!

[How to play Dragonmancer Nunu]

When to make:

Go for this comp if you can build an early Dragonmancer spatula or get a Dragonmancer Emblem through Augments.

Nidalee Reroll: A-tier

Team Comp Description:

[How to play Predator Cat]

When to make:

Ez-Guardians: B-tier

TFT Ez-Guardians Team Comp 12.18

Team Comp Description:

This comp revolves around Ezreal as the main carry and is a slow roll comp. While slow rolling for Ezreal at level 5 you can also look to 3 star other 1-cost units like Nasus and Ezreal. There aren’t any large trait bonuses, just a bunch of small things like Guardians, Swiftshot, etc.

[How to play Ez-Guardians]

When to make:

This comp is very simple to play. Go for it if you have good items or find a lot of Ezreals, Leona and Nasus copies.

Bonkey Kong: B-tier

TFT Donkey Kong Team Comp 12.17

Team Comp Description:

Bonkey Kong is back! This comp slow rolls at level 5 to look for 3 Star Wukong and Leona (and maybe Nasus if you happen to find him on your rolls). The comp then full sends into Jade 5 with the Dragon Shi Oh Yu to support our main tank Leona in the front.

[How to play Bonkey Kong]

When to make:

Go for this comp if you find lots of early copies of Wukong as he is the main carry of the comp. Also try to get early Bows as Wukong will want Rapid Firecannon.

Methodology

We evaluate compositions based on 3 key factors:

  • Consistency: How well does this comp perform from game to game and how reliably can you build towards it given a reasonable start?
  • Overall strength: If you do successfully complete the comp, how does it match up against other comps, especially those most prevalent in the meta?
  • Flexibility: Can you make tweaks and adjustments to the comp while events unfold differently in game? These events include item luck, roll luck, and enemy units.

The combination of these three factors allows us to define team compositions as S, A, or B. The ones that have all three will lean toward S, those that are pretty good but may be lacking in some areas will lean towards B.

[See Ezreal Seraphine deck details]

General info

Ezreal Seraphine takes the classic Noxus PnZ shell and spices it up with some extra splashy goodness. Instead of building up Tribeams, this deck aims to cast a large variety of spells in order to build up and support Seraphine’s doubling abilities. Once online, the combo of Ezreal + Seraphine can burst down the enemy nexus out of nowhere!

👌 Strong Against: Katarina Yasuo, Rumble Vayne, Akshan Lee Sin, Pantheon Varus, Lurk

👎 Weak Against: Pantheon Vayne

How to play

🃏 Mulligan 🃏

Look for removal that matches up well against the opponent’s deck. Sentry + Flock is a great combo against Demacia decks. Back Alley Bar is a good keep against the mirror.

💡 Tips 💡 ‎ ‎ ‎

  • Depending on the matchup, consider playing Seraphine only after she’s leveled. This ensures at least some value before she is potentially removed.
  • Maintaining a proper hand size is very relevant with Seraphine. It’s very easy to refill our hand by doubling up cheap draw spells, along with the fact that many cards replace themselves. Sputtering Songspinner is hard to cast when our hand is completely full, so be mindful of that.
  • Always count the amount of damage you can do with the Ezreal + Seraphine combo. This deck can often guarantee a burst finish simply by adding enough targetting spells to the stack and killing the opponent before they even get the chance to respond. Don’t give the opponent a window of opportunity when you don’t have to.
Pantheon Vayne(Runeterran + Targon)

pantheon vayne lor deck

Deck code: CECAEBIJAMCQEBQJAQQACAYJEMAQMAAVA4BACAANDIAQGCJTAEDAACYCAYEQMKACAQAAEAYCAUEQIDIBAIAACAA

[See Pantheon Vayne deck details]

General info

Pantheon Vayne is the latest Fated variant, with Vayne an incredible amount of support to this Demacia Targon staple. Saga Seeker carries the deck’s early game as it builds up towards leveling Pantheon. The addition of Vayne gives access to more free attacks to abuse our massive Fated threats!

👌 Strong Against: Swain TF, Ezreal Seraphine, Gwen Vayne, Gwen Katarina

👎 Weak Against: Pantheon Varus, Vayne Zed, Jax Vayne

How to play

🃏 Mulligan 🃏

Look for Saga Seeker as our priority #1, but also try to pick up an equipment card. Equipment turns on Lunari Cultist and The Expanse’s Protection, as well as provides an efficient source of triggering Fated.

💡 Tips 💡 ‎ ‎ ‎

  • Aim to target at least one unit per turn in order to threaten Pantheon level-up ASAP. However, this shouldn’t be at the expense of wasting a card and/or mana.
  • Picking the Scout weapon off of Wandering Shepherd allows us to turn Tumbles into Rallies.
  • Single Combat and Concerted Strike are our only form of interaction on the stack. Remember this in case you need to develop a unit before a possible open-attack.
Vayne Zed (Demacia + Ionia)

vayne zed lor deck

Deck code: CECQKBQAAYFAWFIYAIDAEDJCAMAQEBQJBQAQMAYXAECQADACAEBQEFABAEBDCAA

[See Vayne Zed deck details]

General info

Zed is back with a new Demacia Ionia core, and now that Vayne has made an appearance, it’s more efficient than ever before! Forget Rallies, Tumble allows Zed to freely attack with ease, all while equipping him at the same time. Combined with powerful combat tricks like Momentous Choice and Wuju Style, it’s sure to put the opponent on a short clock!

👌 Strong Against: Rumble Vayne, Pantheon Vayne, Pirates, Gwen Katarina

👎 Weak Against: Swain TF, Ezreal Seraphine

How to play

🃏 Mulligan 🃏

This deck relies heavily on getting its champions and equipment early. Vayne and Zed should be top priority, but Ionian Hookmaster is also a solid pickup.

💡 Tips 💡 ‎ ‎ ‎

  • It’s important to save some spell mana in order to protect our champions. One of the deck’s greatest strengths is Ionia’s efficient combat tricks, so be sure to have mana ready going into each turn.
  • Ranger-Knight Defector + Tumble = Free Rally on the opponent’s turn.
  • Take proactive passes when necessary. You can force the opponent to either play cautiously and make subpar plays, or risk overcommitting and getting blown out by a big Tumble turn.

A-tier LoR Decks

Pantheon Varus (Demacia + Targon)

pantheon varus lor deck

Deck code: CEEACBQCEIBAKCIDAUBQMCIEEAUACAYJEMAQMAZCAEDAMJYBAYASEAIGBQEQGAIGA4CQCBQJAYAQGCKVAEAQMBZI

[See Pantheon Varus deck details]

General info

Pantheon Varus plays similar to other Pantheon lists, except it trades the free attacks and Rallies for a variety of powerful support spells via Varus’ Origin. Additionally, instead of relying on Pantheon as the main win condition, Varus is equally capable of closing out the game. Those attack buffs stack up fast!

👌 Strong Against: Pantheon Vayne, Jax Vayne, Gwen Vayne

👎 Weak Against: Ezreal Seraphine, Lurk

How to play

🃏 Mulligan 🃏

Our actual equipment suite is quite low with only Lodestone, Shepherd, and Varus. Prioritize Lodestone and Shepherd in order to enable all of our “if you have equipped” cards.

💡 Tips 💡 ‎ ‎ ‎

  • Momentous Choice counts as two spells towards the free Varus draw. Keep this in mind, as it’s an easy way to get Varus online early when he isn’t already in hand.
  • Varus grows incredibly fast and can be leveled mid-combat to gain Overwhelm and threaten lethal.
  • The Unending Wave is powerful draw, but fleeting is a real cost in this deck. Be sure you have enough mana before casting it in order to increase the likelihood of playing both drawn cards.
Swain TF (Bilgewater + Noxus)

swain tf lor deck

Deck code: CECQEAQDA4EQEBQGA4PACAYGBABACAZOG4BQEBQ2EYWQGAIGAYRAEAQDAEEACAQGDQBACAIDCYAQGAYN

[See Swain TF deck details]

General info

Swain TF is the more controlling side of Bilgewater Noxus. It takes advange of the Sentry + Flock package and utilizes cheap units and spells to win the board. Swain levels incredibly fast with Watchful Idol, and once flipped, becomes a massive threat that the opponent can not ignore!

👌 Strong Against: Lurk, Vayne Zed, Gwen Katarina,

👎 Weak Against: Pantheon Vayne, Ezreal Seraphine

How to play

🃏 Mulligan 🃏

Watchful Idol is the perfect start to turbo level Swain by turn five. Additionally, look for cheap units like House Spider or spells like Make it Rain to halt early aggression.

💡 Tips 💡 ‎ ‎ ‎

  • You can cast spells on Swain’s blockers in order to push through Overwhelm damage and trigger his nexus strike effect.
  • Consider saving chump blockers in order to enable Flock/Scorched Earth/Noxian Guillotine. Similarly, keep in mind when you’ll need to preemptively cast a spell to avoid awkward enemy open-attacks.
  • Riptide Rex can clean up a lot of board states or create a large dent in the opponent’s nexus. Just be sure you have a way to trigger Plunder as the deck has limited options to enable it.
Seraphine Viktor (Ionia + Piltover/Zaun)

seraphine viktor lor deck

Deck code: CEBQCBQFEABQMBAOCUUACAYEAMCAIBQECQLCAKYBAUCBQAIBAQ2AEAIFAEUAOAQBAQNSOAQGAQJB4AIFBJ3QCBAEA4AQGBICAECQIEIBAICAC

[See Seraphine Viktor deck details]

General info

Seraphine Viktor takes the explosiveness of Seraphine and adds the control side of Shadow Isles. The PnZ SI combinations gives access to most of the best, well-rounded removal spells, aimed to punish the opponent and take over the game.

👌 Strong Against: Katarina Yasuo, Pirates, Annie Jhin

👎 Weak Against: Jax Vayne, Rumble Vayne, Pantheon Varus

How to play

🃏 Mulligan 🃏

There are a lot of 1-ofs and 2-ofs in the deck in order to consistently capitalize on Seraphine. Focus on finding the right removal spells for the matchup. Seraphine and Viktor are always welcome keeps.

💡 Tips 💡 ‎ ‎ ‎

  • Be cautious of potential SpellShields in the matchup and hold pings when necessary in order to prevent getting blown out.
  • There is a pretty sizeable amount of variance between cards like Back Alley Bar and Fanclub President. Knowing when you can afford to take a tempo loss is important, as you won’t always be lucky enough to find or generate the perfect card.
  • Don’t be afraid to use your cards. Piltovan Tellstones and Sputtering Songspinner can fill your hand very quickly if it gets low.
Rumble Vayne (Demacia + Noxus)

rumble vayne lor deck

Deck code: CEDQEAYDAEBQCAIADUBQMAYWC4NACBAAAMAQMAAVAECAGFQBAUFFQBABAUBQ2AIFAAGACBQDEQAQCAYLAIAQCAA2AECAAAQ

[See Rumble Vayne deck details]

General info

Rumble Vayne is an all-in combo deck that utilizes Legionary Charge to consistently find Rumble, then swing in multiple times per turn with free attacks. Rumble’s SpellShield + Tumble + Great Hammers is an incredibly fast clock when unanswered!

👌 Strong Against: Gwen Katarina, Gwen Vayne

👎 Weak Against: Vayne Zed, Ezreal Seraphine, Pirates

How to play

🃏 Mulligan 🃏

Hard mulligan to find Rumble or Legionary Charge. Most units are simply here to provide discard targets for Rumble. Vayne is a solid keep if you’ve already found Rumble.

💡 Tips 💡 ‎ ‎ ‎

  • Rumble’s SpellShield is the only true form of protection. Be careful when casting Tumble or Catacylsm once the shield is removed.
  • Remember, you only need to discard three cards to Rumble the first time you play him. Afterwards, just toss one to gain the additional point of Impact.
  • Whirling Death can clear an enemy blocker while simultaneously pushing damage through with Overwhelm.
Gwen Katarina (Noxus + Shadow Isles)

gwen katarina lor deck)

Deck code: CEDAIBQFBQHBAHABAIBQSAQBAUUDCAIBAMVACBADCYAQKAYPAMBAMBINEAAQMAYXAEAQGLQCAEDAKJIBAECQG

[See Gwen Kat deck details]

General info

Efficiency and tempo are the name of the game. Go wide with cheap units as you pressure the enemy nexus. All three champions are difficult to block as they build up to threaten even more damage each turn. The Reckoner duo denies blockers and launches attacks even on defending turns.. And once we reach that final dance, the board floods with an endless rallying army!

👌 Strong Against: Pirates, Annie Jhin

👎 Weak Against: Swain TF, Jax Vayne, Vayne Zed

How to play

🃏 Mulligan 🃏

Focus on early units such as Boisterous Host, Burgeoning Sentinel, House Spider, and Phantom Butler. Gwen is a great keep alongside an aggressive hand.

💡 Tips 💡 ‎ ‎ ‎

  • Be aware of which unit will receive the Hallowed buff before committing your attack. Similarly, be aware of which unit will be revived with Eternal Dancers.
  • Reviving Katarina or Ruined Reckoner enables extra attacks and/or rallies. You can use this to set up sneaky lethals. This lets The Harrowing launch an attack without needing the attack token.
  • Ruined Reckoner on Gwen can flip her on the same turn.
Jax Vayne (Runeterran + Demacia)

Jax Vayne lor deck

Deck code: CECQKBQABMIRKGY5AEDAGFYBAYGAQAIGAYOQCBAAAIBQEAIADIOQCBQCDQBAMAAGDEBQCBQADIAQMCIEAEBAAAI

[See Jax Vayne deck details]

General info

Equipment beatdown is the name of the game, and Jax takes it to a whole new level. With help from Vayne, Jax flips very quickly. Then all it takes is a few free attacks or Rallies to end the game.

👌 Strong Against: Seraphine Viktor, Katarina Yasuo, Lurk, Pantheon Vayne

👎 Weak Against: Akshan Lee Sin, Pantheon Varus

How to play

🃏 Mulligan 🃏

Look for an efficient curve, as you don’t need to bank much spell mana early on. Early Improvise units should be prioritized in order to maximize Tumble efficiency.

💡 Tips 💡 ‎ ‎ ‎

  • Zealous Ranger-Knight is a powerful beater when equipped. This is especially true with the Scout weapon, as the stat buff will trigger and compound. An excellent target for free attacks.
  • You can use Fish Fight as a means of moving a weapon from one ally to another (as it goes back to hand). Additionally, Tumble can reequip it again efficiently.
  • Kind-Hearted Recruit can be used both offensively or defensively. In this deck, it’s essentially a five mana Brightsteel Formation!
Annie Jhin (Noxus + Runeterran)

Annie Jhin lor deck

Deck code: CEEQCBQDBQAQEBR4AMAQGAQMFAAQCBBWAIBAGAYEAECASDIBAYBAGAIFAEDACBQMAIBACAYFAYAQIAYDAA

[See Annie Jhin deck details]

General info

Annie Jhin is an aggressive burn deck that utilizes some of the most efficient 1-drops in the game. Flood the board wide early and stun any blockers that get in your way. Then finish the game with burn!

👌 Strong Against: Pantheon Varus, Gwen Vayne

👎 Weak Against: Pirates, Seraphine Viktor

How to play

🃏 Mulligan 🃏

Look for multiple 1-drops to threaten a wide aggressive start, or Jhin to help proc additional free damage.

💡 Tips 💡 ‎ ‎ ‎

  • Taking damage is okay, you usually want to keep your stun cards for attack turns.
  • Be okay with sacrificing Annie to push burn damage especially if you have another one in hand.
  • Playing Jhin before the attack to setup for multiple stuns on the next turn is a great way to push lethal damage.
Pirates (Bilgewater + Noxus)

pirates lor deck

Deck code: CECQKAQGCYNCMLJ2AQAQGAQMB4UACBIGAEAQEAYDAEDAMHQCAEBAGBABAEBSKAA

[See Pirates deck details]

General info

Classic Pirates is one of the most aggressive burn decks around, but with support from Eye of Nagakabouros, it can even outlast the typical aggro deck. ‎

👌 Strong Against: Annie Jhin, Lurk, Rumble Vayne, Gwen Vayne

👎 Weak Against: Seraphine Viktor, Vayne Zed

How to play

🃏 Mulligan 🃏

The deck runs twelve 1-drops for a reason, so always mulligan to ensure you have one. Consider the matchup when prioritizing one over the other. Legion Rearguard is great against decks without 1-drops and can avoid 1 damage pings like Vile Feast. Precious Pet and Legion Saboteur are best against other units, as Pet can avoid blockers with Fearsome while Saboteur can trade while still pushing one damage.

💡 Tips 💡 ‎ ‎ ‎

  • Zap Sprayfin is guaranteed to pull either Make it Rain or Noxian Fervor. Be sure to factor in that potential damage when looking to find those final points of damage for lethal.
  • Eye of Nagakabouros can be used as a burst speed 2/2 attacker. This is especially relevant when you need to push just a bit more damage before finishing the game with burn.
  • Utilize Noxian Fervor to deny enemy Lifesteal or in response to the opponent’s removal.
Akshan Lee Sin (Ionia + Shurima)

akshan lee sin lor deck

Deck code: CECQEBQCBYRAGBAHQAAYEAMKAEAQMAYXAEAQEMIBAIBAMAYDAYDQIBJGAIDAEDJEAMBAEAYFBAAA

[See Akshan Lee Sin deck details]

General info

Akshan Lee Sin is a OTK deck that uses Absolver and Warlord’s Hoard to threaten a near-unstoppable combo kill. Utilize spells at the perfect time to punish and kick your opponent to victory!

👌 Strong Against: Gwen Katarina, Jax Vayne, Pantheon Vayne

👎 Weak Against: Pantheon Varus, Ezreal Seraphine

How to play

🃏 Mulligan 🃏

Akshan is extremely important for the deck, so hard mulligan in order to find him. Vekauran Vagabond can be a reasonable Plan B if you’re unable to find him.

💡 Tips 💡 ‎ ‎ ‎

  • We’re ideally looking to set up an open-attack with Lee Sin + SpellShield buff + Absolver. Aim to have Lee Sin already on board so that you can immediately combo before giving the opponent any action to respond at slow speed.
  • Try to hold up enough mana for Deny in order to have insurance against decks that can answer your combo.
  • Save Tellstones and Palm for when you really need them. It’s okay to take some damage and chump block with our units. We lack removal overall, so be sure you have answers to any problematic threats.

B-tier LoR Decks

Plunder (Bilgewater + Freljord)

plunder lor deck

Deck code: CECAMAQGBMKCAIJNHIAQKBQBAMDAMFI5DYAQEAICAEBAEBQSFABACBQGDQBAEBQCEY

[See Plunder deck details]

General info

The classic Plunder archetype is a Bilgewater allegience deck that aims to deal damage to the enemy nexus each turn in order to level-up Gangplank and Sejuani. These are two of the strongest level two champions in the entire game, but they require a bit of work and planning. Nab adds an element of RNG to the deck, but adds potential for some cheeky plays like using the opponent’s own Deny against them!

👌 Strong Against: Lurk, Rumble Vayne, Swain TF, Annie Jhin

👎 Weak Against: Pantheon Varus, Gwen Vayne

How to play

🃏 Mulligan 🃏

Look for early plays that can kickstart the Plunder game plan. Warning Shot is a reasonable keep alongside cards like Jagged Butcher or Black Market Merchant. Shellshocker also pairs well with Parrrley to pick off one health enemies while still presenting a unit.

💡 Tips 💡 ‎ ‎

  • Combat damage is ideal for triggering Plunder on our attacking turns. So when possible, save spells to make progress while defending.
  • Eye of Nagakabouros can be used as a burst speed attacker to help go wide enough to trigger Plunder.
  • Jagged Butcher can be played without its Plunder condition if it can get you a Gangplank or Sejuani trigger.
Gwen Vayne (Demacia + Shadow Isles)

gwen vayne lor deck

Deck code: CEBQIBQFBQHBAHABAECTCAQGAAFRKBYCAYCQGDIBAMAA4AIBAANACAIFFABAIAACAMAQMAAGAEBAAAIBAEDAKIA

[See Gwen Vayne deck details]

General info

Gwen Vayne takes advantage of Rallies and free attacks to capitalize on Hallowed triggers. Gwen’s power grows incredibly fast, especially when you can stack it up multiple times per turn!

👌 Strong Against: Gwen Katarina, Plunder

👎 Weak Against: Pirates, Rumble Vayne, Pantheon Vayne, Vayne Zed

How to play

🃏 Mulligan 🃏

Look for early Hallowed units to start building up the buff. Both Gwen and Vayne are definite keeps to start applying major pressure to the board.

💡 Tips 💡 ‎ ‎ ‎

  • Opulent Foyer is often best played on the opponent’s turn. The free Ephemeral blocker is often enough to deter combat, then once the turn passes, another one will summon immediately.
  • The Overwhelm weapon works wonders with Gwen to push her massive damage over the top. The Scout weapon is a solid second choice to turn Tumbles into Rallies.
  • Our only real form of protection is Sharpsight, so be extra mindful of the cards you’ll need to play around.
Lurk (Bilgewater + Shurima)

lurk lor deck

Deck code: CEBAIBAGAEBQKDYGAQDRGFSBIRFFAAYBAYDQKAIEA5CQCBAGA4CACBAGAQAQMBZBAECAOOYBAYDC2

[See Lurk deck details]

General Info

Lurk is centered around proccing the Lurk keyword as much as possible. It’s an archetype for players that like to attack and swing face with huge statted units.

👌 Strong Against: Gwen Katarina, Pantheon Varus, Pantheon Vayne

👎 Weak Against: Pirates, Jax Vayne, Ezreal Seraphine, Rumble Vayne, Seraphine Viktor

How to Play

🃏 Mulligan 🃏

We’re trying to trigger Lurk as much as possible so prioritize mulligan for a good early curve.

💡 Tips 💡 ‎ ‎ ‎

  • Snapjaw is best used on off turns in order to trigger more Lurks.
  • We want to avoid playing Rek’Sai unless we can level her that turn, or if we plan on using her on a turn we also want to cast Pyke’s Bone Skewer.
  • Predicts are perfect in order to ensure we have a Lurker on top of our deck or to grab key cards when we need them for a matchup.
Katarina Yasuo (Ionia + Noxus)

katarina yasuo lor deck

Deck code: CEDACAQDBEBAMAQKBYBQCAQIBQHQCBQDC4BACAZKFYAQEAQFAMAQGAQUAIAQELRRAEAQGBABAIDAGGRB

[See Katarina Yasuo deck details]

General info

Katarina Yasuo is a deck that pops off once it has time to assemble its stun engine. Keep your enemies at bay with an arsenal of stuns, then strike right back at them!

👌 Strong Against: Off-Meta Decks

👎 Weak Against: Seraphine Viktor, Jax Vayne, Ezreal Seraphine

How to play

🃏 Mulligan 🃏

Yasuo, Katarina, and Windswept Hillock are crucial pieces for the deck. These cards create a powerful engine, but it can take time to set up. Prioritize these cards, plus other early interaction such as the Sentry + Flock combo.

💡 Tips 💡 ‎ ‎ ‎

  • Assembling your engines is how this deck wins. Don’t be afraid to pass before putting down your main cards until you have additional mana to protect them.
  • Be patient with saving your interaction for the most vital scenarios when playing against value decks. Against aggro, spend your cards to minimize damage as we generally can’t afford to be greedy.
  • Fae Bladetwirler can apply a lot of pressure on the opponent and often force an answer, or help keep them on the backfoot. Take advantage of this to help sustain through the early game.

If you have any questions about our choices or process, ask us on Discord!

Now that you know the best champions for LoL, get the best champions for Teamfight Tactics with our TFT tier list or Wild Rift with our Wild Rift tier list.

We also have a best decks tier list for LoR and an agent tier list for Valorant.

Methodology TLDR: This list was curated in collaboration with our League Experts: Adam ‘Moriarty’ Isles, Dan ‘Aux’ Harrison and Phy, and our Role Specialists: Shikari, Only, Command Attack, and Yen. Unlike most tier lists, we publish ours before, or as a patch goes live, according to the predictions of our in-house experts.

  • Our first tier list aimed at lower elo, specifically gold elo and the surrounding brackets. These picks are effective when utilized in lower ranks and are the best tools for helping you to climb the SoloQ ladder as far as Diamond.
  • Our second tier list is for high elo, aimed at Diamond 2 and above. These picks are curated by our experts and are an indicator of the champions inherent strength when played at the highest level. For a lot of the user base this information isn’t super relevant for their games but provides invaluable insight into the game itself.
  • We made the decision to return to two tier lists after heavily reviewing the feedback from our users. Ultimately we agreed that a general tier list aimed at Plat+ wouldn’t serve a majority of the playerbase and we had missed the mark.
  • Our difficulty system relies on “Skill Floor”, meaning that a Simple champion will yield results faster (around 5-10 games of learning)
  • If a champion has a higher skill floor (Hard or Severe), it will take more time to learn them (20-50 games +) but you will be rewarded with better results over time whereas a Simple champion may fall off as you climb higher.

Expert pick commentary

To see all the explanations for our expert picks and more, head to our tier list feature!

tier-list-feature

Top – Maokai

  • Maokai is back with a vengeance and this brick wall Top laner is one of the best tank picks to go for right now. In lane, he packs a ton of sustain, decent trading power and an unrivalled ability to set up ganks.
  • His W & Q make him the ideal lane to play for, almost guaranteeing successful ganks every time.
  • Maokai then turns into a monstrous team fighting crowd control monster offering peel, engage or whatever it is your team needs! If you enjoy the frontline fantasy, Maokai is a top choice.

Jungle – Bel’Veth

  • Bel’Veth has cemented her place in the jungle recently, especially in Solo Queue. She absolutely thrives in unorganized games, and the Solo Queue chaos suits her perfectly.
  • Her mobility is incredible, she has solid damage in both short bursts and long extended fights and her E is a fantastic defensive ability making her very difficult to shut down.
  • Bel’Veth tears down the Rift Herald and those tanky Dragons with ease, and as the game goes on, she only gets stronger with that permanent attack speed from her Passive.
  • If you have low crowd control and burst damage, Bel’Veth will just stay alive forever, and if she’s got that Void form- good luck taking her down.

Mid – Swain

  • Swain has been having the season of his life ever since that mid-scope update and with still no nerfs this patch, he’s going to remain one of the best champions in the game.
  • Swain is fairly straightforward to play and works into most team comps which is ideal when playing in those lower-ranked games.
  • Swain has solid laning, fantastic team fighting and immensely good snowball potential, becoming unkillable with his scaling health and itemization but also dealing a crazy amount of AOE damage.

Bottom – Miss Fortune

  • Miss Fortune is the most popular and the most successful AD Carry in the game right now. She starts off by being an oppressive lane bully in the early game and turns into a monster with a few items. Her Ultimate alone is enough to tear through teams and if you catch enemies in chokepoints, you can genuinely ace them with this ability by itself!
  • Miss Fortune isn’t just reliant on her Ultimate now though as she was in the past as now with her crit build she also packs a big punch with her auto attacks and Q. This allows her to kite and burst down enemies throughout fights rather than just waiting for her R to be back up.
  • There are not many easier and safer options to go for than Miss Fortune at the moment if you’re looking to carry from the bot lane.

Support – Amumu

  • Amumu Support is just so simple in the way that it’s effective. You’ve got 2 charges on that Q which can setup fights and ganks in the early game and then you’ve got your Ultimate which allows you to lock down 5 enemies in those big teamfights.
  • Amumu is very simple to learn and easy to pick up but his impact on games is without question. As long as you can get into the right position to engage for your teammates and press R, you’re good to go.
  • If you can combine Amumu support with other strong AoE wombo combo picks, you’re in for a treat.

Top – Singed

  • Singed has had periods this season of pure domination in the Top Lane and right now we are definitely experiencing this.
  • He has such an infuriating playstyle which is undeniably effective, and at those higher ranks is really where players are abusing this champion.
  • Singed usually has a way to make it through any matchup. He has good laning power, a fantastic gank setup, and an incredible ability to roam and influence the map.
  • Even if you get behind on this champion, all you have to do is sprint at those high-priority carries and throw them back into your team.
  • Whether you’re proxying waves or camping other lanes, Singed is a very impactful champion in High ELO right now, and has been for quite a while.

Jungle – Elise

  • Elise hasn’t been the most popular or consistent choice in the jungle for a while, but over recent weeks, she’s seeing more impressive results.
  • Elise is an aggressive early game ganking Jungler with the ability to easily punish and dive lanes taking certain players out of the game completely. She’s one of the few Junglers that can dive turrets so early and so easily and at higher ranks people can abuse this every single game.
  • Elise’s solid early ganks translate into a terrorising mid game: snowballing out of control and one shotting anyone who gets close. As long as you’re confident enough in your Elise capabilities, you can end games early enough before you start to fall off.

Mid – Zed

  • Zed’s been a heavily prioritized pick in that Mid-lane for quite some time recently and he doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down. Zed ticks so many of those High ELO champion boxes.
  • He’s got a super high skill ceiling, fantastic carry potential and the ability to outplay his enemies against all of the odds.
  • Now, if you get fed on Zed at the moment, you have a very good chance of carrying the game, you can pop down enemy carries in a matter of seconds and you can often just get out of there without too much risk of trading 1 for 1.
  • Zed’s mobility, burst damage and overall ability to snowball games by himself make him a very scary Mid-lane pick in the right hands.

Bottom – Draven

  • Draven will always be a fantastic AD Carry to play at higher ranks due to the intense mechanical gameplay that can be insanely rewarding in the right hands.
  • If you can manage those axes and keep on the move whilst pumping out damage and farming efficiently, Draven is just such a great champion and if the meta allows him to be more viable, then he’s always a top Bot lane pick to go for.
  • Draven’s Passive makes him arguably one of the best snowballing marksman in the game as all that bonus extra gold can allow him to spike so early and then just kill his lane opponents in 2 or 3 axes.
  • He’s got self peel with his E, a global Ultimate that help him cash in on that Passive from across the map and of course that huge movement speed steroid in his W as long as he keeps catching those axes.
  • Draven works super well with a variety of supports too making him a solid champion to One trick from that bot lane in high ELO.

Support – Pyke

  • Pyke has always been a real terror in the right hands, but recently he’s started to really come back into popularity. His crazy ability to carry is almost unrivaled from that Support role and his pick potential, his clean-up damage, and his overall impact on games are back at full strength.
  • Pyke has a crazy high skill ceiling so, the better you get at him, the higher the reward is, and at the top ranks this is a huge factor as to his success rate.
  • Pyke has several itemization options, he has a solid range of matchups and if the lane is that bad he can just roam and carry the map instead. If you can pull him off, he’s a fantastic choice to play in high elo this patch.

Format and Methodology

Our difficulty ratings focus on how long it would take to start seeing a champion’s power level on our list in terms of the number of games invested.

Let’s say you’re debating between learning and climbing with Jax (A-tier | Simple) or Rengar (A-tier | Severe) – you’re going to want to go with Jax. Why? This is because Jax has a lower skill floor and would require less games to play at an A-Tier level in solo queue. If you tried to pick up Rengar, you wouldn’t get the full value of A-tier until after about 15 matches of practice whereas with Jax, you would get that full 15 every time you play him.

Another example would be between Nidalee (S-tier | Intense) vs Xin Zhao (B-Tier | Simple). Let’s say you’re about to play your last match before promos and you get auto-filled to Jungle (a role you’re not too familiar with). Even though he’s lower on the list, you’d be better off choosing Xin because you don’t have the required number of games to break the skill floor of Nidalee.

Higher skill floor champions will scale better with time investment – Severe champs will outperform Simple champs in the long run because Simple champs generally have their weaknesses exposed the higher you climb.

So if your question is, “How long until I’ll start seeing results?”, the answer would be harder = longer time, easier = shorter time. If your question is. “Will this champion still be strong as I climb in ranks?”, the answer would be harder = moreso, easier = less so.

Disclaimer #1: If a champion isn’t on our Tier List, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t climb with them. You’ll just have to put in more effort to get similar results as our Optimal, Great, and Good choices for climbing.

Disclaimer #2: This list is meant to evaluate the champions that we believe are best for climbing Solo Queue. Although there can certainly be some overlap, we are NOT looking to name the champions that are the best in pro-play or organized, competitive 5-on-5. This is why champs that require a ton of team coordination such as Ryze, may not be included or ranked highly.

As always, we welcome all discussion and feedback. If you have any questions about picks that we didn’t expand on or would like to let us know how you feel about Patch 12.20 and our predictions in general, join us in our Discord! All of the New LoL Champion K’Sante’s Abilities

K’Sante: The Pride of Nazumah is the fifth champion to hit Summoners Rift in the 12th Season of League of Legends. He should be the last champion to be released this year, but Riot does have some other champions in the works to be released soon™.

He will be making his debut during Patch 12.22.

His intended role is to be played in the Top lane. However, expect some players to play him in the Jungle role too.

Stick around and learn about K’Sante’s Passive, Q, W, E and his Ultimate. When the champion page is up for him, we will link the latest and greatest build(s) for him as well!

K’Sante’s Ability Names:

  • Passive: Dauntless Instinct
  • Q: Ntofo Strikes
  • W: Path Maker
  • E: Footwork
  • Ultimate: All Out

K’Sante Reveal Video

Skin Spotlights K’Sante Ability Reveal

K’Sante’s Passive is Dauntless Instinct

His damaging abilities mark enemies. His basic attacks against marked enemies consume the mark and deal additional damage.

All out bonus: Consuming a mark deals additional damage.

K’Sante’s Q is Ntofo Strikes

K’Sante slams his weapon, dealing damaging and slowing enemies. If he hits an enemy champion, he gains a stack, which can stack up to twice. At max stacks, his next cast is empowered that pulls enemies towards him.

All out bonus: The cooldown is reduced and it no longer applies a slow.

K’Sante’s W is Path Maker

Active: He charges, entering a defensive stance that grants him damage reduction and immunity. He can recast this ability:

Recast: he dashes in the target direction, dealing damage and knocking back and then stunning enemies.

All out bonus: The cooldown is refreshed, the damage reduction is increased and it deals more damage. The speed is also doubled.

K’Sante’s E is Footwork

He dashes, but not through terrain or walls. He gains a shield while dashing. He can cast this ability on allies to increase the range and also give them a shield.

All out bonus: Footworks dash speed and range is increased, and he can also dash through terrain.

K’Sante’s Ultimate is All Out

He roots and knocks back a target a fair way. He then blinks behind them. If the target hits a wall, they go further and over the wall. At the end, he deals damage and they will be stunned if they hit a wall. After that, he goes “All Out”, and the ability can be recast within the duration.

All out bonus: He loses a percentage of his health, armor and magic resistance, but he gets additional damage and omnivamp while empowering his abilities.

The Best Valorant Agents for Patch 5.07

Welcome to our Valorant agent tier list for climbing ranked! We created this list with the help of our high ELO experts (Immortal 3+) who play in NA, EU, and OCE.

This is a general list that is meant to be helpful whether you’re playing solo or with a squad, but it does lean more towards coordinated teamplay rather than trying to carry lone-wolf style.

Note that at the beginning of the patch, we will give predictive placings based on the buffs/nerfs. Check back midway through the patch for an update (if it’s still the same, it means we predicted correctly!).

Valorant Predictive Tier List for Climbing Ranked

VALORANT Agent Tier List Patch 5.07

Patch 5.07 Valorant Agent Tier List

Tier Agents
S-tier Chamber, Raze, Jett, Fade, Reyna
A-tier Sova, Sage, Omen, Viper, Brimstone,
B-tier Phoenix, Killjoy, Kay/O, Skye, Neon, Breach
C-tier Astra, Cypher, Yoru

Agent Explanations

Here are the explanations why we’ve placed each agent in their tiers. If you have any questions please ask in the comments below and our experts will reply as soon as they can.

If you have trouble facing a particular agent, check out our article on How to Play Against Every Valorant agent.

S-tier Agents

Chamber

chamber agent profile

[Learn more about Chamber]

Chamber is the strongest agent in the game and in solo queue there is far more dry peeking, and less clearing out angles with utility. This makes Chamber even stronger as he gets so many free kills, and can teleport away to prevent a trade or even continue holding an angle because trades are slow.

Raze

raze agent card

[Learn more about Raze]

Raze is the only duelist who can get some information on her own, make space, and is the strongest defensively. She is an all around agent who can make many solo plays with her blast packs which make her a fantastic agent for solo queue.

Jett

Jett Medium difficulty card

[Learn more about Jett]

Jett is great on both offense and defense. She can make space on offense for the team and is still a good Operator and/or aggressive pusher on defense. Her Ultimate can also win eco rounds where enemies may take non-ideal fights during anti-ecos where a Blade Storm kill yields a teammate the enemy’s rifle.

Fade

fade agent square

[Learn more about Fade]

Fade’s kit is very strong and pretty easy for teammates to play off of even with minimal communication and coordination. Seize is a very underrated part of her kit as it can completely stop a 5 man push and allow for teammate rotations.

Reyna

Reyna Medium difficulty card

[Learn more about Reyna]

The smurf agent. Who was recently buffed to lean even more into this role. Reyna is designed to be selfish and play for herself. In less coordinated play swings off of a teammate’s contact is much slower or non-existent which allows Reyna to dismiss or heal.

A-tier Agents

Sova

sova agent card

[Learn more about Sova]

At lower ranks fewer people shoot his utility and it gets far more value, and at higher ranks with more coordination his utility supplements commonly played duelists well. Sova is also a great character for solo clutches and late round to make a big individual impact on the team.

Sage

sage agent card

[Learn more about Sage]

Sage is a glorified duelist who can be used for stuffing 5 man rushes. Being the only character that can heal herself with no stipulations is great to have, and her wall allows for some hero plays.

Omen

omen agent card

[Learn more about Omen]

Omen is the controller with the kit most suited for making individual plays. He can also play many angles that may not be cleared or flushed out with utility in a less coordinated environment.

Viper

viper agent card

[Learn more about Viper]

Viper is a must pick on some maps, and can take over a game if the team is able to get the spike planted. This is because she has greater post plant utility that teams who retake more slowly will suffer against, and she can farm ultimates for nearly guaranteed round wins.

Brimstone

brimstone agent card

[Learn more about Brimstone]

Brim is very easy to play and a great way to help the team with smokes while focusing on gunplay. Brimstone can also be a monster in post plant between his ultimate and molly as retakes are a little slower in a less coordinated game, making this utility stronger for denying defuses.

B-tier Agents

Phoenix

Phoenix easy difficulty card

[Learn more about Phoenix]

Phoenix’s buffs made him a stronger agent overall in all environments. His kit is rather selfish, and has a lot of aspects for individual plays.

Killjoy

Killjoy Easy difficulty card

[Learn more about Killjoy]

As players get better she really gets boxed out by Chamber. But in mid and lower ranks she is quite strong as she does not have to really on precision weaponry like Chamber, and is better for stopping all out pushes more common at lower ranks.

Kay/O

Kayo agent profile pic

[Learn more about Kay/O]

KAY/O has a very strong kit overall, and can make individual plays with his right click flash, but it did get nerfed quite a bit. His utility that is stronger is based around setting up others, and doesn’t flourish as much in a solo queue environment.

Skye

skye agent card

[Learn more about Skye]

Skye was changed to play less selfishly. She also requires excessive communication and teamwork to get the most value of her kit.

Neon

neon agent profile pic

[Learn more about Neon]

As a duelist Neon requires a good amount of resources from teammates. Other duelists can play better on their own.

Breach

breach agent card

[Learn more about Breach]

He is a strong agent, but requires so much coordination to play effectively. He is an agent as the rank gets higher becomes better.

C-tier Agents

Astra

Astra Mobalytics Valorant agent card

[Learn more about Astra]

Another agent that requires a lot of coordination with your team. She also is one of, if not the hardest to make individual plays with. An agent that definitely gets better at higher ranks.

Yoru

Yoru Agent page portal

[Learn more about Yoru]

Yoru can help players get through lower ranks as many do not know how to effectively play against him, but he worsens as players communicate better and can counter his kit.

Cypher

cypher agent card

[Learn more about Cypher]

C for Cypher tier. The weakest agent, and in a role that is very hard to get value in solo queue.

Best Valorant Team Comps by Map

  • Ascent
    • Sova, Omen, Killjoy, Jett, KAY/O
  • Bind
    • Viper, Brimstone, Raze, Skye, Fade
  • Breeze
    • Viper, Chamber, Sova, Jett, KAY/O
  • Fracture
    • Fade, Chamber, Brimstone, Neon, Breach
  • Haven
    • Fade, Chamber, Omen, Raze, Breach
  • Icebox
    • Sova, Chamber, KAY/O, Sage, Viper
  • Pearl
    • Fade, Chamber, KAY/O, Neon, Astra

These are some powerful team comps that we recommend for each of the Valorant maps.

Here are some additional options that you can interchange based on your agent pool.

Just make sure to build wisely, so if you’re replacing Omen, you may want a Brimstone and so forth.

For more details, check out our dedicated guide on our Team Comps by Map.

Format and Methodology

Tier Ratings

Overall, the criteria for S/A/B are as follows:

S-tier
  • S-tier agents are optimal for the current meta. They can fit into any team comp and are expected to be in almost every team comp for almost every map.
A-tier
  • A-tier agents are very good but aren’t as consistent as S-tier. They can fit into most team comps and perform well on most maps but there are some exceptions where other choices may be better.
B-tier
  • B-tier agents are underpowered compared to their peers, are inconsistent due to feast/famine tendency, or depend on certain maps/team comps in order to succeed.

Agent Difficulties

These ratings are more suited for newer players (Iron, Bronze, and Silver) and relate to how much time and experience you need to be useful to your team compared to other agents.

Here are examples for each:

Brimstone (Easy)

Brimstone is an ideal agent for beginners with abilities that are very straightforward and easy to understand.

They can all be safely used from behind cover and are useful even when you’re playing from behind.

Cypher (Average)

Cypher’s abilities require you to have additional macro understanding compared to Brimstone.

You need to understand where to place your gadgets, how to balance between switching back and forth to your camera, and how to use your gadgets in combination with each other.

Defending can be more forgiving for a beginner, but on offense, you need to learn how to lurk and where flankers are likely to come from to make your Trapwires useful.

His ultimate is also harder to activate compared to Brimstone.

Sova (Hard)

To be an effective Sova player, you need to spend time in custom games to practice your ability lineups with your arrows.

If you don’t it can be incredibly easy to whiff your Shock Darts and your Recons may land in areas that provide no value.

Because of the amount of time commitment he requires and due to how easy it is to mess up his abilities, he is quite hard for beginners to pick up compared to other agents.

As always, we welcome all discussion and feedback so please leave any comments/questions below! Be sure to check out our Valorant site to find the best character ability lineups for every map.
